McLaren’s New MP4 ‘Super Sports Car’ Revealed

McLaren has recently unveiled a new 600 hp ’super sports’ car, featuring technology borrowed from its Formula 1 experience. This vehicle has been engineered to be as environmentally friendly as possible, boasting the lowest carbon output per hp of any car currently available.

This is a new venture into the super car market, and the company is building a new production line to turn out up to 4,000 of them a year. The BBC’s Richard Scott has been given an exclusive first look at the car.

I’m guessing it’s pretty much going to be McLaren’s Gallardo

  2. Supercar is a supercar. there is nothing practical about them. Could it perhaps mean that he doesn’t know any better ?

And yes.. I believe Ferrari will finally get a counterpart in this new Mclaren. However.. I do feel they should have directed its looks a tiny bit towards the previous Mclaren F1. For example, kept the door or the stripes on the sides. It wouldn’t hurt.

Well I guess what he meant was that it was the first one used on a more “practical car”. Those ones you mentioned cost far more than this one does. I hope this MP4 is a great success. It looks like it has it all for the person buying it.

  4. It won’t be faster than the original Mclaren F1. To be faster than that it would have to be a full on race car and that’s not what they want to make. They want to make a sports car that people can use.

  5. They call it F1 gearing when its stuck to the steering wheel. Left for up and right for down or the other way around… who knows.

It’s a lie though when he says the 1 piece monocoque or “tub” as some call it, is used in a car for the first time. I’ve been to the Koenigsegg factory and seen them use the exact same solution for 10 years. I believe Zonda also use it and probably a few others of the same caliber. It totally removes the need for a metal frame. American cars are way behind in this.

    woooooow!!!!!!

  7. I think what he meant was f1-style paddle shift (which as we know, isn’t really restricted to f1 cars these days)

  8. This might be faster then the F1…. we don’t know yet
